What happens to the estate value you type in

Nothing leaves your device. Every calculator on this site runs entirely in JavaScript in your browser. The gross estate figure, the state you select, the cost basis you enter into the step-up tool: none of it is transmitted to a server, logged, or stored anywhere. Close the tab and it's gone.

Analytics

Google Analytics records aggregate traffic, like which pages get visited and roughly how long people stay. This tells us which guides need updating, not who visited or what they calculated. You can block this with a browser extension or by rejecting the cookie banner.

Advertising

Ads are served through Google AdSense, which may use cookies to personalize what you see. Google's own policies govern how that data is used; you can manage ad personalization through Google's ad settings.

Contact forms

The contact form sends your name, email and message to a form-processing service so we can reply. That information isn't used for anything beyond answering you.
